Understand Behaviors by Understanding the Brain

Understand Behaviors by Understanding the Brain

In this training, we will explore the differences that can happen in a child’s brain when they do not receive optimal development. Many children in foster care come from a traumatic background, and it is our responsibility to understand how that can impact their behaviors. We will discuss the amygdala and how it controls a child’s life by over-activating the flight/fight/freeze response, and how we can calm the brain. This training will also explore the two main causes for behaviors, and how we can focus on responding to those causes rather than to the behaviors themselves. This is a free two hour credited training. Free childcare will be provided and Kaden’s Kloset will be open for shopping. Please RSVP with the number of adults and children of all ages to Becky Groeneweg at Becky.Groeneweg@LSIowa.org.
